Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family with community service. First family, he's the youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie. The family lived on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. Second football he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in all of the nation. Lee Roy won two championships, and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter. In 1975, he received the third scholarship of his career and was named an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned a degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in volunteer work ten hour per week during his time at college. After college, he moved in Tampa and played for nine years for Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro 3 times. After that, he began his professional career. The first position he held was an Account Relation Officer at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 young stars across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he was captain of the team in 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was named to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor, who presented this award.
